GIVING BACK

ABOUT NU SIGMA CHI'S PHILANTHROPY

Everyone knows someone affected by cancer.

For Nu Sig, we were personally affect by the tragic loss of our sister, Barbara Camardella, on September 28, 1964. In Barbara's honor and memory we began our philanthropic partnership with the American Cancer Society. The idea being that there is power in numbers and when strong, motivated women work together the possibilities for positive change, support and raising awareness become endless.

Nu Sigma Chi has proudly raised thousands of dollars for The American Cancer Society (ACS) since 1964. Our chapter and Alumnae Association raise cancer awareness and funds by participating in various ACS events across the country and holding events on the SUNY Cortland campus.  For more information about Nu Sigma Chi's partnership with the American Cancer Society, please reach out to our Philanthropy Chair, Megan Hendrickson at help@nusigmachi.org.
Contest for Homecoming King*

This annual fundraising event is held to support our philanthropy efforts.
Back in the day this event was called "Nu Sig's Ugly Man" but today it's simply Homecoming King.  The winner is crowned during halftime at the Homecoming football game.

With the generosity and kindness of local businesses, faculty, campus students and other Greek houses, we have been able to make contributions to ACS each year.
*Nu Sig's Homecoming King Contest is currently being coordinated by Pan-Hel.
Nu Sigma Chi will be eligible to request to take coordination back fall 2017.
For over 100 years, the American Cancer Society (ACS) has worked relentlessly to save lives and create a world with less cancer. Together with millions of supporters worldwide, including Nu Sigma Chi, the ACS helps people stay well and get well, find cures, and fight back against cancer.
For more information about Nu Sigma Chi's partnership with the American Cancer Society, please reach out to our Philanthropy Chair, Megan Hendrickson at help@nusigmachi.org.
